Hyundai Repair: XL300 01 Rear wheel bearing hub removal, wheel hub, rear hub

Question
On the inside of the rear hub there is a plastic cover that I cannot remove. I assume it covers the speed sensor. Can you give ma any advise of removing this assemble as well as further advise on removing, replacing and reassembling the wheel bearing. Thx

Answer
The rear hub bearing is not serviceable separate from the hub assembly.  The hub bolts onto the rear knuckle with four bolts from the back side of the knuckle.  I've never had occasion to try to remove the plastic dust cover, so I'm not sure how it comes off.  If you can access the four hub bolts without removing the cover, then I'd recommend leaving the cover alone.  If it's necessary to remove the cover to access the bolts, I'd recommend carefully prying it to see if you can pop it off.

You'll also need to remove the wheel, caliper, and rotor to access the front side of the wheel hub for removal.  The new hub will come with a new sensor wheel.
