Hyundai Repair: new car leak left of brake pedal, hyundai santa fe, dohc v6

Question
I purchased a new 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe SE 3.3L DOHC V6.
The car is only two weeks old.  I just bought it to the car wash.  As I was pulling away I felt something dripping on my left foot.  I called dealer who said they have never had a prob and did I leave window open.  Told them no and bought car in yesterday am.  They are trying to find source of leak (It leaked when they soaked the car).  Obviously I am concerned.  I have a brand new car that they are taking apart to find source of leak.  Have you ever heard of this and if so what do you think it could be.  Any input would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Joanne

Answer
All sorts of problems occur with new vehicles.  Sometimes it's due to poor assembly.  Other times it's due to a problem with the manufacture or design of one of the parts.  On the whole, however, most new vehicles have few problems.

As long as the dealership and its technicians are professional, thorough, and competent, there's little to worry about.  Water leaks can be difficult to find since various hard or impossible to see components often need to be accessed for inspection.

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say the windshield is probably leaking.  Be sure to let the dealer take the time necessary to locate and repair the leak, wherever it is.  There are electronic components behind the dash which could be damaged by a water leak, so it's important they find the leak and repair it properly.
