Hyundai Repair: bucking Accent, fuel pressure gauge, best bet

Question
I have a 1998 Accent that for the most part,  has served me well; here's my  question.. my SOHC Accent  will  start  to buck a couple of minutes after driving, will get increasingly worse until it renders the  car useless,my temporary fix for this  is to slip it into neutral,  and restart the engine, but  this will allow only another couple of minutes of driving before it starts all over again,  please help!!!

Answer
My first instinct is that your fuel pump is weak.  I'd recommend installing a fuel pressure gauge and checking the fuel pressure.  You'll need a gauge and an adaptor to attach it at the fuel filter.

If your check engine lamp is coming on, have the diagnostic trouble codes read.  AAMCO and AutoZone have advertised they'll do this for free.  Then follow up with the code numbers.  I'll advise you on further diagnosis and repair.

Based on your description, I'm having some difficulty determining with reasonable certainty whether the performance issue is engine or transmission related.  If the above suggestions don't help you, your best bet is probably to have the car diagnosed at the dealer or a top-rate driveability shop.
