Hyundai Repair: Check engine light is on 2003 Hyundai xg 350, throttle position sensor, haynes manuals

Question
QUESTION: I went to Autozone to check for error codes. If you could please tell what they mean and or what I need to do. The codes are as follows P0220, P0120, P0441, P0446, P1196, P1110, P1175, P1614. I know there are a lot of codes but I was told the one error code could cause another to trigger.  There is a airfilter for the air conditioning system is that something that I could change?  If so where is the location. Thanks for any help that you can supply.
ANSWER: P1614 indicates an internal problem with the Electronic Throttle System (ETS) Module.  This calls into question the validity of P0120 (throttle position sensor (TPS) A circuit problem), P0220 (TPS B circuit problem), P1110 (ETS malfunction), and P1175 (ETS close command malfunction).  P1196 indicates that the bypass limp-home valve in the throttle body was opened, which is consistent with many ETS problems.  I'd recommend starting with replacing the ETS module, clearing codes, and checking to see whether any of the other codes listed above return.

P0441 indicates improper purge flow.  I've only ever seen this code occur when the purge control valve was sticking open.  P0446 indicates an excessive level of vacuum in the fuel evaporative system, which could be caused by a stuck open purge control valve.  In this case, I'd recommend replacing the purge control valve, clearing codes, and checking to see if P0446 returns.

QUESTION: Thanks you for the speedy and clear response. Is this something a do it yourselfer can do, or should I seek professional help. Secondly is there a Hanyes book on this car? Thanks again

Answer
I'd think a do-it-yourselfer should be able to tackle these items.  The ETS module is located behind the center dash trim panel, and the purge control valve bolts onto a bracket on the intake manifold in front of the throttle body.

I don't know of any Haynes manuals, but you can see the factory service information, technical service bulletins, and schematics at www.hmaservice.com.  You'll need to register for a free account, and the site requires Internet Explorer.  Once you've entered the Service Information section, enter the year and model of your vehicle and select SHOP, ETM (schematics), or TSB.  You'll find the best pictures are in the ETM section.  At the bottom of each schematic is a link for component locations.  Clicking on the component you wish to see from the list of components typically produces a very nice picture.  The organization of the schematics and shop manual will take some practice to master.  Once you receive your password, just go in and nose around a bit.  If you're looking for something you cannot find, ask a question and I'll help you find it.
