Hyundai Repair: elantra door ajar light, door switches, door switch

2000 eleantra door ajar light stays on, always and is running battery down.  graduation gift for my daughter, don't want to give her the car until fixed.  help!

Usually, this is caused by a faulty or broken door switch or a misadjusted door.

One by one, go to each door on the car, open the door, and unbolt the door switch from the pillar.  This will take away the ground for the door switch.  If one of the door switches is causing the problem, the door ajar lamp will go out when that switch is unbolted.

Once you've isolated which door is having the problem, you'll need to determine whether the problem is in the switch itself or whether the door needs adjustment.
