Hyundai Repair: car trouble, professional diagnosis, hyundai excel

Question
i have a 91 hyundai excel. and it will not  take the gas at some time.and it will idle up and down.

Answer
Hi, William.  I'm presuming "will not take the gas" means that the car accelerates poorly.

For poor acceleration, you may have a misfire, clogged converter, or low fuel pressure.  Although these are the most frequent causes, there are other less common ones like a worn crankshaft sprocket or a mistimed camshaft.

A hunting idle is usually caused by a carboned throttle body and throttle body components in need of adjustment.

Right now, I probably need a better idea of exactly what the car is doing, and it's unlikely that will occur without a test drive.

You might check the service manual at www.hmaservice.com.  The site requires Internet Explorer, and you'll need to register for a free account.

If you are still having problems diagnosing your problems, you should probably have a professional diagnosis done.  When you receive the diagnosis, you can then determine whether it's better to pay for repairs, do them yourself, or not do the repairs at all.
