Hyundai Repair: 2003 Sante Fe Check Engine w/codes, speed sensors, sante fe

Question
I have a 2003 Sante Fe 6 cyl 2.7L. The check engine light has come on a few times and the trans switches to limp home mode or locked in 1st gear. After an hour with ignition off the check engine lite went off and one time took 1.5 days to reset.  My DTC codes are P1529-Manf Cntrl Vhe.Spd, Idle Speed Control, Auxiliary Inputs and P0733-Gear 3 Ratio Incorrect. DTC Pending(Codes) were No Faults Detected. If this is 1 or several speed sensors can they be easily repaired at home and where is a decent place to get them cheaper than a dealer?   Thanks, Dave

Answer
If P0733 and P1529 are your only codes, it's very likely you have an internal transmission problem.

P0733 basically indicates the transmission is slipping in third gear and P1529 indicates the transmission computer requested that the engine computer turn on your check engine lamp.  I'd recommend taking it to have it checked professionally, but expect an estimate to have the transmission overhauled or replaced.
