Hyundai Repair: hyundai flywheel check, crankshaft pulley, pulley bolt

Question
I've heard that you can check the flywheel for cracks and broken teeth by removing the starter and manually turning the wheel. I've gotten to the teeth that I can see but I can't move the flywheel to see the rest. Should I be able to move it or is that a problem? is there a trick to this that I do not know?

Answer
Probably the easiest way to turn the flywheel is with a 22mm (or 19mm, depending on which engine you have) socket on the crankshaft pulley bolt.  In most cases, there's a hole in the splash shield through which you can install an extension and attach a ratchet.  If the engine is still too hard to turn, you can remove the spark plugs to relieve the combustion chamber pressure that makes the engine difficult to turn.
