Hyundai Repair: squeal in drive belt area, wd 40, squeal

Question
I have a 02 Santa Fe 4wd(2.7) with 45000k. There is a moderate squeal or squeak coming from the drive belt area. The belt itself looks fine no cracks or shredding. I don't believe the noise itself is coming  from the belt. The noise is most noticeable at cold startup and within 5 to 8 minutes the noise will cease instantly could it be bad tensioner or pulley bearings? Thank you in advance

Answer
It's possible it could be the belt or a pulley.  The quickest way to determine whether it's the belt is to give the belt a quick spritz of WD-40 or something similar while the noise is occurring.  If the noise goes away or changes, you know it's coming from the belt.  You can take action to correct it at that point, or you can put it on ignore.  If it's only a little chirping from the belt, there's nothing to be concerned about unless the noise bothers you enough to do something about it.

If it's not the belt, you can take a long screwdriver or similar probe and put one end on a pulley (the center part that's not moving) or accessory and put your ear on the other end to listen.  Typically, you'll be able to tell when you hit the thing that's making the noise.
