Hyundai Repair: 2002 Sonata Electrical Problem, adobe svg viewer, 2002 hyundai sonata

Question
I have a 2002 Hyundai Sonata with 73000 miles on it. I bought it used about 4 months ago. In the past two months it has started acting. Sometimes it doesn't start on the first time. It will turn over but not start. Sometimes you might have to turn it over five times another time it might be 15 times or more. This only happened maybe once a week when it first started but now it might due it twice a day. So far it has always ended up starting. I cleaned the battery cables and such and it still happens. About a week ago another problem arose, my power locks won't unlock with the switch or the remote. They lock but won't unlock. Now yesterday my power seat won't won't work. I was just wondering if these problems may all be connected. I checked the fuses and they seem fine. Thanks for your help.

Answer
It's doubtful the problems are connected.

For the starting issue, you should check things like the fuel pressure regulator and the crank sensor.

For the power locks, I can almost guarantee that the problem is one of the power lock relays behind the dash.

As far as the power seat goes, you'll need to do some testing.  Start by checking the appropriate fuses.  Then check and see if you've got proper power and ground to the switch.  A quick way to test the motor is to activate the switch and whack the motor in question with a wrench or something similar and see if it starts operating.  If it does, the motor was the issue.  Unfortunately, if it still doesn't move, all your possibilities are still left open.  You can see the schematics at www.hmaservice.com.  You'll need to register for a free account, and the site requires Internet Explorer and a free downloadable Adobe SVG Viewer to see the schematics.
