Isuzu Repair: Air Conditioning, r 134a, orifice tube

Question
I'm a do-it-yourself guy, I need to replace my A/C compressor on my 1994 Isuzu Trooper, is it as simple as replacing the compressor, and recharging the system?  Would appreciate some pointers, I,ve done a lot of work on this vehicle but have not tackled A/C yet.  Thanks a lot.

Answer
Well first of all you need to properly and LEGALLY depressurize the system Eric. Also to PROPERLY replace and repressurize the system you need a new oiled compressor, filter-drier, expansion vale/orifice tube. Have your condensor and evaporator flushed plus all the lines and replace any mufflers(they do exist on A/C systems)  or lines that need replacing. Then have your system refilled with either R-134A or an authorized R-12 dealer Eric. Then it needs to be pressure tested and leak tested and or dye tested as well. Also a note of advice, many auto parts stores or dealers will not warrenty any compressor unless you buy a new condensor, evaporator and all above parts listed as well so that is something to think about. I am here though for any other questions you might have okay? Have a good evening.
