Isuzu Repair: 94 Rodeo Speedometer and Odometer Not Working, Continued, speed sensor, cordless drill

Question
QUESTION: When the check engine light comes on, the truck appears to behave normally.

ANSWER: Well it could be a number of things. Although these have prone to have bad MASS sensors. Have you cleaned out your throttle body lately? Heavy gum around your throttle body and EGR valve can cause a false reading on the T.P.S which in turn will cause the CEL to come on and off at times. I would check this out as well. I am still looking through my pile of books to try and find something about your tranny problem but haven't found anything yet. I won't give up!!!

QUESTION: I finally had a chance to look at it again.  The sensor harness is getting voltage.  SO I unscrewed the sensor from the rear of the tranny.  The post that goes to the gear slides right out and I put that in the sensor.  I then turned the ignition to ON without starting, and spun the post in the sensor using a cordless drill (heh, heh, heh) to simulate the gear being driven.  The speedometer and odometer both worked.  So, I would conclude that the gear is stripped.  I still cannot figure out how to get to the bugger though.

Answer
Well Chuck thats what I thought too. The gear should be in a housing held on by one bolt. If I am right the whole assembly should pop out and you can access to the whole assembly. Although the Speed sensor and cable have to be removed first of course. If this hasn't helped you I am sorry but that is all I see in my archive of books and I have alot of them!!
