Isuzu Repair: 2000 Trooper ABS light on and transmission slip, electronic module, signs point

A couple of weeks ago the ABS light starting coming on intermittently.  I took it in for service and they told me all signs point to the ABS electronic module ($2000.00 for new part).  I have'nt decided what to to yet however since I had it check out it seems the transmission slips on occassion.  The slipping appears to coincide with the ABS light being on or not.  Could the two be related?  Any ideas on what to try.

Well Sammy the ABS is covered under a recall notice so do not take any crap from the dealership. IT IS COVERED!!!! Also the transmission slip could be due to a low voltage problem, low fluid, or in need of a transmission flush,fluid and filter change(I would recommend this).
