Isuzu Repair: 2001 Rodeo grinding, 2001 isuzu rodeo, bad wheel bearing

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo with a 5-speed manual and about 98,000 miles. It has suddenly started making a grinding noise in the right, rear tire/axle area when a take off and when I shift into 2nd, then disappears as I get to highway speed in the higher gears. It sounds almost as if a gear is spinning. Is the rear end about to fall out? And since I have a 100k drive-train warranty I'm pushing that very hard. I don't know that it's related, but the trannie went out at 225 (yes, 225) miles and the clutch had to be replaced at about 45,000.
Thanks much,
Ken

ANSWER: It could be a bad wheel bearing and or mis-adjusted or faulty pinion gear or axleshaft bearing.

QUESTION: Many thanks, last question, can you ballpark a repair cost?
Thanks again.

Answer
I charge 50.00 per hour for labor. the labor cost will vary from state to state and I would have to visually inspect the rodeo to make an exact figure for the cost. also for the cost for the part. If it is a wheel bearing or axle shaft bearing probably around 150.00 to 220.00 what state are you in?
