Isuzu Repair: 1995 Isuzu rodeo rear main seal, engine oil pan, screw ups

Question
I've got a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo that needs a rear main seal replaced. The part is only $35 but the labor is $1000. Is this worth repairing? Are there additives that may help to seal or slow the leak? Thanks for any suggestions or direction you can offer.

Answer
Well Keith. I am not a firm believer in what I call"miracle in a bottle" But the main seal does need to be replaced. However the manual even states it is better to pull the engine/ oil pan to do the job correctly. Because if you try and use chinese fingers or something. You run the risk of scratching/nicking the main bearing and that is no good man. I am sorry for the bad news but I have personally seen technicians try to go the cheap route and it ends up costing them twice as much to fix their screw-ups Keith.
