Isuzu Repair: 1994 Isuzu Rodeo stalls while coasting, isuzu rodeo, fuel pump filter

Question
I have a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo, V6, 2wd, automatic,
problem is that almost always when I'm going down hill, without breaking or giving it gas once i get to the bottom and start breaking and stop, engine will hesitate and rpms will get very low "500 or so " and it will actually stall.

When i try to restart it will start but the rpms will vary from 1000 to 500 or lower and will sometimes stall again>

only occurs while I'm not giving it gas going down hill coasting.

Spedo doesnt work "neither problem started at the same time " and sometimes it will take longer to start when hot, like 4 or 5 seconds of cranking unlike the usual 2 seconds when cold .

Answer
Hello Fred, It sounds as if you have the rodeo vacuum blues.  Rodeos are horrible for their intake gaskets leaking, as well as your fuel pump/filter could be bad or just dirty. Also check your timing on your engine, it could be a little whacky. Check these and let me know how this goes. Your truck should idle about 450-500 rpm's. Your speedometer is run by a cable that rus from the speedometer to the transmission. this could be broken or the plastic gear inside the housing could be stripped. Try and see if that's the problem first.
