Jaguar Repair: 1986 xj6 part numbers

Question
Hi Howard,

I had written you about the fuel leaking from the fuel evap cannister and you gave me some great tests to find where the problem is.

The mechanic working on my vehicle suggested getting new return valves and a new switching valve. Would you know the part numbers that I should request and the part number for the fuel evap cannister ? Do you have a parts company that you would recommend ?

I would appreciate any help you can give me with this.

Thanks again....Jeff

Answer
Hi Jeff,

I have some service manuals but no parts manuals that would have part numbers, because the parts companies on line have parts manuals that you can access easily. Some use their own part numbers and some use OEM numbers but that doesn't matter because they can cross each other's numbers.

I do have several companies that I deal with and they all are reputable companies. Here are the ones I deal with.  Engel Imports, Moss Motors and JaguarNashvile.com Even though Engel and JaguarNashville.com are Jag dealers they try to match prices with other on line companies. there are a lot of on line companies but these three I know are good people.

Many years ago when I worked at the dealerships there were activated charcoal refill kits you could buy but I haven't seen any in years but you might ask anyway.
