How difficult is it to replace the altenator and regulator on
a 73 XKE V12 automatic.

Hi James,
It is not a difficult job but you should purchase a service manual before you start. As it will tell you in the manual be sure to disconnect one (either one) of the battery cables before you start.
It would not hurt to put a piece of tape on each wire and label them as you remove each, to be sure you put the correct wire back in the correct position.

If you have a late model radio installed be sure you have the reset code before you disconnect the battery. If it is the old original radio you don't need a code.
