Jaguar Repair: 87 XJ6 Vanden Plas Injector Pulse issue, resistor pack, pulse issue

Question
I have an 87 Vanden Plas, I am trying to find a wiring diagram and manual. The problem I am having is Injector Pulse. My husband got it to run by forcing fuel into the manifold and the car ran great. He says that the injector wires test positive both sides and one side should be ground. He believes it to be a wiring issue between Injector pulse and ECU. I cant find a manual or wiring diagram on the 87, so I can have someone trace down the wiring. (My husband is gone and I need to get car running). Also which component controls the injector pulse? Any assistance you can give me would be greatly appreciated as my friend is not a Jaguar mechanic but can read directions and knows how to use testers.

Thank you,
Karen

Answer
Hi Karen,
Power on both sides of the injector wire is normal. Power is supplied to a resistor pack on the lower right inner fender. The reason you see power on both wires is that the current is flowing through other injectors back to the one you are testing.

The ECU grounds the injectors in groups and fires them two times per complete cycle. The ECU grounds a set of injectors when it sees an ignition pulse. But in no specific order. All of the sensors control the pulse duration in milliseconds thus the control of mixture.

I have posted a diagram of the injection system on my web site for you to copy.
