My steering wheel is very loose..thinking it could be a screw adjustment in the steering box?

Hi Jean,
This is a common problem and you need have some one in the car and moving the wheel back and forth just in the free play while you look with a good light at the shaft at the steering rack to see if the free play is in the rack or between the rack and the wheel. I found that most were loose at the joint at the firewall. But it can be anywhere including inside the upper spline or even the nut that holds the steering wheel on (Under the horn fitting)
If the free play is in the rack itself let me know and I will try to go over how to take the free play out of the rack.
