Jaguar Repair: compression in cylinders, blown head gasket, wet test

Question
Hi Howard I pulled all the plugs and did a compression test on all cylinders in my 84 xjs. The [a] bank was almost all lower than the [b] bank by 30 lbs. Some  were at 150 some as high as 200lbs. Does this mean that there are internal problems like a warped head or blown head gasket or bad rings? Just a acquired car and as yet have been able to start it. Thanks for any info

Answer
Bill, give me the compression readings on each cylinder and did you hold the throttle open on these tests? The throttle must be held open on all compression tests dry or wet.
A wet compression test would test for rings. Squirt about 4 or 5 squirts of engine oil in the plug hole after each dry compression test to get the wet test. The wet test will be higher but must not be more than 10% to 15% higher. If it is much higher, then you probably have a ring problem on that cylinder. Give me all 24 test results.
