Jaguar Repair: 1954 XK120 Jaguar DHC, wire wheels, diamter

Question
I have the subject car and am experiencing the left rear brake handing up (not retracting).  The car has wire wheels.  When I remove the wire wheel it appears the brake drum is bolted to the axle, but that the center hole in the drum is smaller than the diamter of the hub the wheel mounts on.  How do I get the brake drum off to try to fix the hanging up problem?

Answer
Hi Tom,
Remove the nuts holding the drum to the hub, then use a lead or brass mallet to tap the edge of the drum outward on the edge as you rotate the drum. Sometimes they are tight and rust doesn't help. The hole is large enough to slid over the splined hub.
Don't forget to check to see that the hand brake cable is not causing the problem rather than shoe springs.
