Jeep Repair: 91 Cherokee 4.0L Push Rods, head gasket, cam lobe

Question
I replaced my head gasket= removing head, magnafluxed, new gasket, now install... So im installing my push rods by unbolting the bridges on the rockers, slipping in the push rods, and then re-tightening the rockers. But everything is uneven. So as far as I know, I have to set crank to TDC, using a timing gun. Q: What are the marks and how do I know where to set it? (if this is really how im supposed to do it) Thank you!!!

Answer
First, since this is a pushrod motor that uses a timing chain to drive the camshaft, setting the motor to TDC has no affect on how you install the pushrods. It can be set at any position without any danger. Second, the rockers will be uneven depending on where the cam lobe in relation to the lifter. I would install the pushrods and rockers then crank the engine by hand 2 full revolutions to make sure there is no interference. If none is found I would then perform a compression test as a final check.
