Jeep Repair: Code 1494, e mail address, chrysler corp

QUESTION: Hi, I have a code 1494, I have replaced the fuel pump, checked all the hoses, relplaced the sensor the one ontop of the tank and the ldp. Still the gas gauage is well off (goes to full on start up then to empty and takes 5 or 6 miles to level off then to accurate). I have also replaced the speedometer chip too.  Where else do I look for the problem?

ANSWER: P1494 is a DTC that indicates a problem with the Leak Detection Pump switch ciruit. The LDP system has no affect on how you fuel gauge works, it only deals with evaporative system. I'll need to know the Year, Make, Model and engine size in order to better assist you.
