QUESTION: this is all the details of what I've done

i have a 97 cherokee with a 4.0 that's not getting any spark. i have replaced the coil and checked to see its getting power (my test light will light up on both wires leading to the coil when cranking)visually inspected the cap and rotor and checked injector pulse. all the gauges work on the dash and the info cluster. all the fuses are good under the hood and in the vehicle. the fuel pump kicks on fine. any idea's ?? i was told that if the crank sensor is bad then the check engine light wont come on until you unplug it from the harness( is this true??)but i tested it with my volt meter and am getting between 5v and 0.3 v on one wire and between 3 and 4 volts on the other. i have also pulled the codes and they are reading 12_54_55 but i don't have access to the info to see what the codes mean so i cant tell what the problems are problems are. can you help please. thank you very much

Answer
the first part I need to see if u are doing it correctly because the coil should have power on the dark green and orange wire and a ground pulse on the gray wire  U say u have power on both   if U are doing it correctly  that would mean U have a wire that has 12v when it is not suppose to on the gray wire.

With the key on for just a few seconds  or when cranking unplug the coil connector and on the green wire see if u get 12v with the v meter or a test light.
The other side with the test light on the + post of the battery do the same thing  it should pulse as well when grounded.
