Land Rover Repair: brakes, genuine honda parts, honda pilot

Question
sorry to bother you with a generic question but i figure it applies to all cars.
honda pilot 2011. 19k miles. brought for inspection. passed. told them wheel a little wobbly when i brake. then guy says rotors are down to 40% and should be replaced. i realize brake pads can go at 19K but rotors? I dropped the car off at honda and they said if its the rotors its likely they can be grinded, $290 for front brakes and rotor grinding, this seems high to me, more so $600 to replace front rotors and brake pads.  I also wanted to ask what are lifetime brakepads? do they work? is there a brakepad I should request? is it worth paying more for? thanks much in advance!

Answer
It's common for cars to need pads and rotors together.  If the wheel shudders on braking most shops would install new rotors.  You can try turning the rotors but that might not work.  There is no such thing as lifetime brake pads.  That's a come-on from the chain marketers.  I suggest genuine Honda parts.
