Land Rover Repair: U-Bolt??, u bolt, drive shaft

Question
I'll prefix by saying I am knot a mechanical person!!I have a 2000 Disco II, about 2yrs ago we had to have the front ubolt(no idea if there is a rear ubolt)replaced. I am concerned that this problem has returned. I am not in the position to take it to a mechanic to have it replaced and I am wondering how difficult this process would be? My wife's ex-father in-law is a retired mechanic and would be more then willing to assist me.

Answer
There is no such thing as a front u bolt.  There are u joints in the front drive shaft; perhaps that is what you are referring to. You must unbolt the shaft and flex and feel the joints to see if they are binding or loose.  They are checked by feel.
