if head were taken off how to set timing again

Answer
The timing in newer Rovers is computer controlled.  If you have an older vehicle with a distributor turn the engine till the #1 cylinder is at top dead center with both valves closed, and install the distributor so the rotor is pointing to #1 cylinder on the cap.  That should get you timed good enough to start.  The older Rovers have timing marks to use a regular timing light on the harmonic balancer
