Land Rover Repair: fuel gauge, land rover discovery, fuel gauge

Question
Hello, i have a 95 land rover discovery, head gasket was replaced on passenger side and since then the fuel gauge will not work it reads empty and the light stays on.Have replaced the fuel pump with no change.

Answer
I can't really imagine what the head gasket has to do with fuel gauge reading.  As you know, the sender for the gauge is part of the fuel pump.  If you changed that with no improvement, the fault must be in the wiring from the tank, or the dashboard gauge.  Wheat I'd suggest is to plug in the old pump and move the level float arm while reading the voltage at the gauge.  That should allow you to tell if you have a wiring problem or a failed instrument.
