Land Rover Repair: 98 LR discovery, mass air meter, stock air filter

Question
Hello John. Your previous advice was great. I really appreciate it. Is it expensive to repair the cruise control? The switch is working but the cruise control doesn't work. I think it may be the hoses. I can see that they are cracked. Would you recommend K&N air filters? I hear that they are a great investment and allow your vehicle to run more effeciently. I just replaced the original water pump and fan clutch. I also just replaced the timing cover gasket and timing chain. My LR now runs noticeably better. What are some other major servicing options that I should consider in order for my LR to run more efficiently? Is it easy to redirect the windshield washer sprayers? The sprayer on the passenger side seems to be hitting the passenger side wiper. The rear wiper functions without problems. However, washer fluid doesn't come out of the rear washer sprayer even though I can hear the motor running when I hit the switch. The tires that I currently have on my LR are P235/70R16. How big of a tire would you recommend for normal highway driving and off road driving without having to get a lift. I don't want to get a lift on my LR. I have a little seepage coming from the valve covers. Should I replace those? Thanks in advance!

Hoses are an inexpensive repair, if that's the problem.  New hoses should cost under $200.  Other repairs - if needed - could cost more.

I believe the stock air filter is best for most people.  K&N filters admit more dirt if they ar enot serviced regularly, and if they are over-oiled they can damage the mass air meter.

You can gently bend the tip with a pointy object.

The rear wiper functions without problems. However, washer fluid doesn't come out of the rear washer sprayer even though I can hear the motor running when I hit the switch.

Either the pump is bad, the nozzle is clogged, or the hose is broken between the reservoir and the rear window.

You can probably run 255s but check the wheel well clearances.

I have a little seepage coming from the valve covers. Should I replace those? Thanks in advance!

If the leak troubles you I suggest you fix it.

Good luck!
