Land Rover Repair: plug wires 2000 DiscoII, plug sockets, electrical stress

Question
I saw someone mentioned they had a tech sheet for replacing the plug wires on a 2000 DiscoII. Would you have this? Also some tips on best way to get to the plugs?

Answer
There is no "tech sheet" about replacing plug wires.  Land Rover does have a service support site, www.landrovertechinfo.com where you can buy a day's access and download any factory service info, including this procedure.

You have to remove the top part of the intake - the plenum - and all the associated stuff that's in the way.  With that off, you can see the wires and coil packs, and you can change them. It's a half-day job.

Most of the time, when we do it, we change the coils as they tend to sustain damage from electrical stress if a wire fails.  Also this is the time to change valve cover gaskets and anything else that leaks in there.

When you add those tasks it often becaomes a full day job.

As to getting tips to the plugs - all I can say is, dexterity and universal joint plug sockets with long extensions.  They are plainly visible; just awkward.

Good luck with it
