Land Rover Repair: hi John, there is this H shape light on dash, land rover discovery, differential lock

hi john, hope you can help me, a light is showing up on the left side  its an H shape light permanent and well i really ignore what could be the problem, i have a land rover discovery automatic 1996. thank you very much in advance

Hi Kaarem,

It couldd be that your differential lock was activated.

In the owner's manual it states:

Differential lock - AMBER
Illuminates whenever the differential lock is engaged.
If the light remains on after the differential lock lever is moved to the disengaged position, transmission ’wind up’ may be present.
Reversing for a short distance and then going forward will usually ’unwind’ the transmission. If the light remains on, contact your dealer as soon as possible.

Kaarem, just behind your shifter is the transfer gearbox shifter.  Make sure that shifter is in the HIGH position and the diff is unlocked.  This is the normal placement for everyday driving.
