Land Rover Repair: Freelander coolant leak, land rover freelander, coolant temp

Question
I had a friends car (Land Rover Freelander)with a coolant leak coming from the lower radiator hose. This one has the coolant temp sensor in the hose. I changed the hose and the new one is leaking from where the temp sensor is. Do I need to change the sensor or can I just change the o-ring. Also, there is a small metal clip that snaps to the sensor. How important is this clip for preventing leaks, or is it just to hold the wires on the sensor. Thanks!

Answer
The small metal clip holds the electrical connector.  It serves no purpose for a seal.  The factory o-ring only comes with the sensor.  You would have to change the whole sensor.  If you can find a universal o-ring that fits, you could just change the o-ring.
