Question
my 2000 discover II has gone crazy on me, it was sitting for a couple of months so the fuel pump didnt work anymore, once it was fixed (aperantly an electrical problem) now an image with two gears and a line across them lights up on the dashboard and then the truck turns off, it seems to be something with the transmissin i would think, i have no diea and am losing hope on this vehicle, please help....

Answer
The image of two gears and a line across them indicates that the transfer box is in neutral.  The presence of this warning light, along with the complaint of an electrical  failure causing an inoperative fuel pump could indicate a bad power supply. I would recommend you start by cleaning all battery grounds and positive connections. You should also, of course, make sure you have a good battery.

I have also seen problems with water ingress in the engine compartment fuse box. This can cause the fuel pump to be inoperative and the engine to cut out, as you have described. Finally, the multifunction unit (body control unit or BCU)located in the passenger compartment fuse box beneath the steering wheel sometimes fails. This will also cause numerous odd electrical problems.
