Land Rover Repair: Headlight switch replacement, turn signal switch, column switch

Question
John,

I have seen a few posts in your site about replacing the headlight / turn signal switch (i have a 95 disco) and i believe the switch is bad....I was able to jiggle it a bit before to have my tail and dash lights come one.. but now my jiggling does not work anymore.

I have exposed the switch and removed the two foward screws that appear to be holding the switch in place however i still can;t remove the switch. It would appear it's being held in place by something else in the middle (toward the steering column) that is preventing it from coming out. Before i applyed a ton of force, i wanted to see if i am missing something or if there is just a "snap" or somehting the switch connects into and i just need to apply more force.

let me know if you have any ideas

thanks,
Mikel

Answer
Hi Mikel,

I've never done this repair so I am relying on what I've read before.

Most owners who've done this said they slide out.  If true, I would use some electrical cleaner and spray the area in order to make it easier.

One owner said he had to depress two tabs before sliding the switch out.

Some other owners have said they simply replaced the entire column switch assembly.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
