Land Rover Repair: Rangie classic fuel system, fuel pump relay, inertia switch

Question
Hi,

I have a 1985 RRC fitted with a 4.6 engine (still carby though).

I have a problem with no voltage getting to the fuel pump.  To overcome this
I've wired the fuel pimp supply voltage directly to the coil (for the distributor),
so I can use the truck.

I have tried to trace the original wiring from the fuel pump but lose the wire
under the dash.

Could you describe the fuel system eg relays, inertia switch etc etc to help
fault find.  A drawing would be a big help.

Many thanks

Steve

Answer
Tracing back from the fuel pump. the live wire should be white with a blue tracer, which then is connected to the rollover switch under the hood, which then goes back to the main fuse panel.  It should be fuse 18.  The wire then becomes white and purple, which feeds back to the main fuel pump relay, which is a silver relay on a blue terminal block, which sits adjacent to the main injection relay, which is located under the front seat (left or right depending on LH or RH drive).  I would recommend replacing or energizing the fuel pump relay to begin with.  These are the only metal encased relays.

If you would like me to fax you a copy of the wiring diagram, you can contact me through my website <a href:"www.britisheurotech.com">British Eurotech</a>
