Land Rover Repair: 98 discovery brakes, steel line, rubber plug

Question
Drove to far with worn front brake pads. How do remove the caliper without disconnecting the brake line? Checked Tech CD says nothing about just unbolt caliper and hang to side...Steel line on the caliper is joined to a 2 bolt plate then rubber brake line. I'd hate to open it if I don't have to.

Some people will bend the metal line (not really recommended), others will unbolt the plate, and others will unscrew the line.

Unscrewing the line will cause slight fluid loss but the fluid probably needs changing anyway.  We do that here, and we'd plug the line with a little rubber plug while it was open.
