Land Rover Repair: 99 Disco II, test plug, penetrating oil

Question
I have a 99 Disco II I was wondering where you check/fill the transmission fluid.  I can't find a dipstick or anything.  Another thing is my drivers side door will not lock or unlock with the key anymore it has to be done manually.  And finally the back door no longer opens.

Answer
The transmission needs to be checked with the vehicle running on a drive on lift, via a test plug on the side of the transmission. The prodecure is in the workshop manual.  It's not an owner task; it's usually done in a service shop

The back door can usually be fixed by prying out the LR oval and using penetrating oil to lube and free the latch

The driver door may need a latch; I'd have to see the truck to be sure, but latch failure commonly causes that issue
