Land Rover Repair: 1991 Disco - It just died..., haynes manual, ventile

Question
Hi!

My very well kept Disco 1 from 1991, just died the other day. I thought I had the wrong gear in when the engine stopped. I tried to start it up again but it just does not bother. The cylinders are rolling and it always tends to JUST ignite, but does not really get there.

I have of course checked the special "roll-ventile" under the dashboard and there is plenty of gas in the car.

What can I do to fix it really quick?

Best regards,
Steve

Answer
Hi Steve,

you have to determine if its lacking spark, fuel or compression.

You can have a local garage do all of this and it would not take long to determine.

I've not had much experience with '91 Disco's but should be straight forward to solve.

Do you have the Haynes manual for repairing your Disco?  If you don't, you should.  It has a section on troubleshooting engine starting problems and its quite good in its layout and design.  This book is not very expensive either.

If you need more advice you can always send me an email and I'll do what I can.
