Land Rover Repair: Land Rover Disco II service engine light, mileage points, autoparts store

Question
Hi,
My Rover seems to be working fine but the service engine light came on and was flashing, then stopped and stayed illuminated. Is it set to come on when it hits certain mileage points? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Brittney

Answer
Hi Brittney,

yes, there is an emissions reminder but just in case, go to a local autoparts store (like Advance auto) and ask them if they can reset the reminder and read for any faults.  You have an OBDII connection on your vehicle and you'll need an OBDII 'Reader' with reset capabilities to reset the reminder - if that is why it was triggered.

IF its not a reminder milestone, the OBDII reader will reveal a code(s) to help diagnose the fault.

Send me an email and include any error codes that you find.  I'll do my best to help you decipher them and help locate an independent LR mechanic within your general area.  Otherwise, contact your local LR dealership and let them know what you've found.

Best of luck,

JohnMc

NB: I hope its only an emissions reminder.
