Land Rover Repair: 2002 Freelander Ignition Failure, land rover service, crank sensor

Question
I have a 6cyl Freelander that I have had the 60K and 72K service performed by a dealer. Current "challenge" is that there is no spark at the coil/plug. No fault is indicated in the computer. New battery installed as it was determined to be shorting out. Crank sensor change with 72K service. Technician is at wits end. He said that all 6 ignition coils showed arcing across the field coil. I though it was odd that six separate components would fail the exact same way at the same time. ECM checks okay, as does the crank and cam sensor. Techs are stumped. Any suggestions as to a course of action to pursue, short of a match in the tank?

Thanks

Tony

Answer
The one sentence answer:

Find a qualified repair facility.

I have been a Land Rover service manager 20 years.  Six coils do not all arc and short at once.  That's a guess and a hope.

You cannot diagnose a V6 Freelander no-spark without the T4 or Autologic test system.  Find a dealer or properly equipped shop and have them find out what's wrong.  All the parts swapping in the world won't find computer glitches in these modern cars.
