Land Rover Repair: 2000 Disco Air sus & steering quest, one of the lucky ones, extended warranty

Question
Great web site. I recently bought a 2000 Disco II with 47,000 miles and a warranty that will last intill 75000. I think I am one of the lucky ones!

My first question:
The rear suspension sinks down to the tires if it sits for more than 3 days. Is this normal in cold weather? Also, If I shut it off after driving, I sometimes hear a valve open and air 'spitting out' The truck sinks, but not a lot. Is this the suspension returning to normal height?

Second:

There is a lot of play in the steering wheel. It rotates up to 1.5" side to side. Is this normal for these vehicles or do I have another issue?

Thank you for your help.

Answer
Jeremy,
No kidding, an extended warranty is a MUST for these beasts!
1st question: The susp. is NOT supposed to sink by itself. I suppose your vehicle has air susp. in the rear. The air springs might leak, fairly common detoriation of rubber air boots...The spitting is most likely normal since the pressure changes after shutting car off.
2nd question: The steering box might have excessive play in it (have seen it numerous times), you might want to have it checked. If you have warranty until 75k, call the nearest dealer and have the work done by them (just a good advice).
All the best
