Land Rover Repair: Air Suspension, airline connections, td5

Question
Hi. My 2000 TD5 GS has started sinking on the near side rear when stood for more than 24 hrs. When starting up it rises straight away and drives without a problem. Would this be an air bag leak as opposed to a a compressor fault or could it be a multitude of problems. I do have an independent LR specialist near by but want to be forearmed with as much info to avoid being "had"

Answer
Most of the time leaning or lowering while parked is leaky air springs, especially at that age.  It could also be leaks in the block or at the airline connections but the first place to look is the springs.  Rising quickly and driving normally indicate your system is functional and your compressor is likely still good.

The only way a decent independent will have you is by selling you a coil conversion when you don't need or want one.
