Land Rover Repair: abs/TC/hill decent lights & water leak, ebc brakes, temp guage

Question
Truck is a 2001 Disco II.
problem #1. I have had problems with the abs/TC/hill decent lights coming on every 6 months or so. I take it to the dealer, they replace a sensor and reset the codes and send me off. But after 6 months they come on again. Last time they said the brakes needed replacement. I replaced the pads and rotors, front and rear, using EBC brakes. They can't solve the light problem and say the brakes are the cause. Does this sound legit? I don't want to have to swap the brakes out to stock, to not have it solve the problem. Then have to take it back to them to trouble shoot more. Is there any other components that my be causing this type of issue.
Problem #2. I noticed a coolant leak on Thanksgiving day. A small puddle under the truck. I never noticed it before. I check the fluids every 2 weeks so I would have (or should have) noticed if there was a problem prior to this. I started the truck the next evening, drove less than 1 block, and the temp guage dropped to 0, and a red light above the guage came on. I turned around and took it back to the house. I towed it to the dealer on the Saturday. They told me there was a hose and gasket that were bad, which they replaced. Then several days later, while they still had the truck, I get a call to say there is water in the oil. And that it may need a new engine. To damage the head gaskets, the engine would have had to overheat correct. I never had the vehicle run hot at all. I am just trying to see if there is a known problem with head gasket failures on the disovery II's.

Answer
Ultrasonic vibration from aftermarket brake pads can cause ABS faults.  The only way to know for sure about this would be to swap the pads.  If the fault remains it's a sensor issue.

Head gaskets do fail in Discos like yours; look on my web site www.robisonservice.com > service > land rover > articles for more info on this issue.

We do head gasket replacements all the time in our service department
