Land Rover Repair: 96 LR Disco turns over wont start, fuse box, diag

Question
Just got the LR back from the dealership to fix alarm problem and now it won't start. It turns over but it doesn't engage. This vehicle seems to have on going alarm issues as I've had at the dealers now 3x (2 different ones). I just want it fixed for good. Is there anything that I can do to make sure the dealer is fixing the correct part? I've had wiring repaired, Actuator Assy replaced, remote reprogrammed and now they tell me that the fuse box needs replaced. I just want to know if the problem will be addressed by doing this. Nothing showed up before on the T4 diag test that was done the first time I had it at the dealer. Any advice?
Thanks,
Renata

Answer
Hi Renata,

this sounds so much like other dealers. They appear to be swapping parts in hope of fixing the problem.  Seems like the fuel has been disengaged.  There is a switch that can do this and it is part of the security system.  EGR?  I would hope that a LR dealer would know that.

As for making sure they repair the problem and not run up the bill by replacing parts that are not faulty, I would suggest that you write on the invoice that if the problem is not resolved, they must refund the money for the part.  If you take your Disco in for repair AND they claim that part X is the cause, make sure you add - if the problem returns and part X is NOT the cause, a full refund is required.  Then sign the invoice.

That's about all you can do.  Reporting poor service to LRNA does not seem to do very much.  You could try.

Best of luck,
