Land Rover Repair: 2000 Discovery II indicator lights., winter tires, winter thanks

Question
Hi Bruno,  I have the above vehicle, and my three indicator lights were on, the ABS, traction control, and one other. The dealer fixed it (I'm not under warranty), but one week later they came on.  I'm told it will be a minimum $2500. to repair, and that as long as the lights are on, my ABS and traction control are disabled. It is winter now, and I'm concerned...I had let it go because the cost and repair time were so high.  Is there a way to get the part for less, is there any secret to this that I'm not understanding, and how long should it all take? Also, what tires would you recommend for my vehicle?  I live in a rural area with bad roads, lots of rain, and some snow in the winter. Thanks so much!  Kathy

Answer
Hello Kathy,
When the ABS light comes on it is true that the system will not operate when you need it. After market parts are pretty hard to come by for a Land Rover. In order to help you I would need to know which part failed on you Disco. As for tires, I live in rural Canada and recommend winter tires to anybody that drives in the winter. It all depends on how much snow you get,but it's a good  idea to change tires for winter. Any popular brand would be good except for Goodyear. They seem to get noisy on Discos.
Hope I can help you
Bruno
