DTC code P0734 gear 4 ratio...what does it mean...what do i do...i'd love to keep the dealer from touching it...in the last year i've removes air ride system and want to shocks and springs..went to the next size tire...added heavy ARP bumper and Warn winch, adding about 500lbs to the front end.
it drives great and isn't showing any signs of mechanical problems beside this mystery code...thanks
-----Answer-----
Teh 4th gear ratio monitor fault usually indicates a fault with the mass air sensor on the engine.  It's not usually a transmission issue at all.  I've covered that in my previous Robison on Rovers magazine articles.

Answer
The 'official' way to test the sensor is by watching the signal from it on the Land Rover test system and comparing the readings to what's expected.  That's how we do it.

As an individual with no access to a test system I am not sure what to suggest short of swapping it and seeing what happens with a known good part.

Good luck!
