Land Rover Repair: 95 defender 3.9 oil pump, low oil pressure, petroleum jelly

My D90 has been sitting garaged for a year, and I get a low oil pressure indicator when cranking, I have read that the oil pump may have lost its prime? Any way to prime without pulling the pump and packing with petroleum jelly?

Answer
Make sure the engine is filled with oil.  Unhook the coil wire and crank for 30 seconds.  The engine should prime itself.  Connect coil wire and start.
