Land Rover Repair: 1970 series IIa misfire/cutting out/backfire, series iia, carburetor problems

Question
I'm having a problem figuring out where to look next. I'm having a problem with cutting out, misfiring, and backfire. I checked and removed the fuel pump, everything seems ok, I removed an extra fuel filter that was attached to the line and it seems to be running 90% better. I'm still dealing with that 10% of cutting out, misfire, and backfiring. Could it be water in the gas, eventhough I've added gas 3 times over? I could use another perspective?

Answer
It could be carburetor problems, bad points, a bad coil, bad condensor.  Check all the usualy tune up stuff.

If you suspect the gas pump some into a clean glass and look at it.  Do you see water?  Sediment?  Does it smell right?

If it looks OK it probably is, and you should look to clogging in the carb or ignition problems.
