Land Rover Repair: No Horn, fuse panel, light bulbs

Question
1993 discovery mk1 diesel tdi-notice the horn not working-took the top off the switch in the centre of the steering wheel-I have 12v on the switch and if I ground this the horn works-I assume the otherside of the switch must go to a 'brush' arrangement to reach  ground down the colomn steering.
Maybe coincidence but I think the indicator (signal) cancel stopped working at the same time and have since found a few pieces of plastic(broken) when I dropped the cover hiding the fuse panel under the steering.
Question 1-does the remainder of the switch just pull out thru the steering wheel? There doesn't appear to be any screws or fixxings.
Question 2-I think the steering wheel will have to come off to replace these parts ,if so how and can it be done without specialist tools.
Many thanks

Answer
Tony,

real quick answer...take a look at the light bulbs on your Disco...especially those associated with your turn signal.  If an exterior turn signal or brake light bulb blows, the first sign (besides no light) is a problem with the turn signal.

This could save you time and money.

NB: weird Lucas wiring...may even affect your horn!
